Miel Peersman

Rolled up my sleeves from day one. And stayed.

Hi, I'm Miel Peersmann

I joined Sekisui Alveo in 1988. As a temporary Alveolen-Operator. No big plan. No career roadmap. Just getting started, pitching in and seeing where things would lead.

This is my working world

A year later I took the opportunity to work as a forklift driver in logistics. I really enjoyed it. I was in contact with many departments and many different people, and I quickly realised how important logistics is to the company. After a few years I moved into an administrative role in logistics. Step by step. Always with support along the way.

At first things were fairly straightforward. Then SAP R/3 was introduced. A major change. For many people a challenge. For me, an opportunity. I wanted to understand the system. Really understand it. So I immersed myself in it. Learning, trying things out, asking questions. And at some point I realised: I could create real value here. Not only in my own role, but for others as well.

That’s how I became a specialist. Not because it said so on paper, but because my colleagues knew: if there are questions, I can help. If something isn’t working, I’ll find a solution. That’s what I’ve always enjoyed most, solving problems before they become visible. Recognising potential before it becomes urgent. Acting instead of just reacting.

With the new SAP system, S/4HANA, I feel that even more strongly. As a key user, I’m close to the processes, close to the people, and right at the centre of what’s happening. That’s my contribution.

I’ve learned a lot through “learning by doing”. Through projects like Phoenix, through colleagues both locally and across sites. Knowledge is shared. Support is there. And when things became difficult, I still took them on. Not every change is perfect. Not every decision feels right. But challenges are part of the journey, and I’ve always tried to make the best of them.

The past few years haven’t been easy. There have been many changes, and not all of them were simple. And still: I genuinely enjoy working here. It still feels good to come to work in the morning. Because I know why I’m here. And because I know my contribution matters.

My wish for the future is simple: to stay healthy, keep contributing, and continue supporting the company in the way I always have.
